Excellent setting, visibly flawed stones, less than ideal screw on backs

The style is exactly what I wanted, gold setting with screw on backs. The earrings were highly polished to a beautiful sheen, the gold and the stones. But the the table of each diamond (the flat surface in the center) is visibly scratched, one earring had one scratch and the other earring had two scratches. I ran my fingernail across the scratches and the tip of my nail got caught in the scratches. The screw on backs weren't what I expected. The holes seemed just a bit too big for the posts and I had a bit of difficulty screwing them on. I mistakenly put a bit too much pressure and the back went past the threads on the post as if it were a push back. My other earrings with screw on backs have a wider post and the screw on back is circular with four contact points to easily hold onto it when screwing it on. This back appears to be a push on back but it clearly has the threads to screw on to the posts.The earrings arrived well packaged. It is important to mention this in this instance as this is how I know the stones were sent with the scratches in them; they clearly did not get the scratches on them in transit.
